Library Showcase: Veterans Day

In this Nearpod Holiday lesson, students explore Veterans Day, a day dedicated to current and former military men and women. Students discover and reflect on the historical and cultural significance of the event. This lesson is most appropriate for students grades 6-12. It is estimated this lesson will take about 45 minutes to complete. This social studies lesson achieves a number of objectives. By the end of this lesson, students will be able to understand and describe some general narratives and practices surrounding Veterans Day. They will be able to reflect on the significance of Veterans Day for communities who celebrate. Students will be asked to reflect on a text about the importance of Veterans Day. Students will explore how different places across the United States celebrate Veterans Day, including their own community. Through these interactive activities, students will be engaged and will develop insight about the holiday of Veterans Day.
